Jontay Porter receives lifetime ban for gambling
Wed, Apr 17, 2024, 7:46 AM
Shams Charania on Twitter
The Athletic's Shams Charania reports that Jontay Porter has received a lifetime ban for disclosing confidential information to bettors.
Analysis: The investigation found that Porter provided health information to bettors that led them to place large wagers on his performances. The bets included successful wagers on the Raptors losing and Porter underperforming, which triggered the investigation.
Jordan Nwora
Jordan Nwora double-doubles in season finale
Sun, Apr 14, 2024, 9:57 AM
Jordan Nwora racked up 14 points, 11 rebounds, an assist and two three-pointers across 21 minutes in Sunday's 118-103 loss to Miami.
Analysis: Nwora came away with his second double-double of the season as he ended his fourth NBA season on a high note. He played a minimal role across 52 appearances for the Pacers and Raptors, though he saw an increase in playing time down the stretch for an injury-riddled Toronto squad. Nwora is an unrestricted free agent this summer, but no matter where he signs, it's highly unlikely he will become a relevant fantasy option.
RJ Barrett
RJ Barrett (knee) downgraded to out vs. Miami
Sun, Apr 14, 2024, 6:10 AM
Blake Murphy on X
RJ Barrett (knee soreness) has been ruled out for Sunday's game against the Heat.
Analysis: Barrett was a late addition to the injury report, and it doesn't come as a surprise that he will now sit out of a meaningless game for Toronto. Bruce Brown, Ochai Agbaji and Jordan Nwora will all take on extra minutes.
RJ Barrett
RJ Barrett (knee) now questionable vs. Miami
Sun, Apr 14, 2024, 5:32 AM
Blake Murphy on X
RJ Barrett (knee soreness) is now questionable to play against the Heat on Sunday.
Analysis: Barrett wasn't initially on the injury report, but now there is a chance that he sits out after dropping 35 points on the Heat in their last game. Bruce Brown, Ochai Agbaji and Jordan Nwora will likely soak up Barrett's minutes if he sits.
Immanuel Quickley
Immanuel Quickley, D.J. Carton out Sunday vs. MIA
Sat, Apr 13, 2024, 10:51 AM
Josh Lewenberg on Twitter
Immanuel Quickley (rest) and D.J. Carton (right ankle sprain) are out for Sunday's game against the Heat.
Analysis: Carton's continued absence does not impact fantasy basketball or the Raptors' rotation. As for Quickley, his 2023-24 season was defined by an in-season trade from New York to Toronto. The move opened things up for the third-year guard, who provided 6th-round per-game value in 9-cat formats from January 1 onward. Quickley will be a restricted free agent this summer, and the expectation is that Toronto will do all it can to re-sign him. He'll have a prominent role wherever he lands and is worth selecting with a middle-round pick in standard leagues.
Kelly Olynyk
Kelly Olynyk totals team-high six assists Friday
Fri, Apr 12, 2024, 4:55 PM
Kelly Olynyk finished with eight points (3-of-7 FGs), 11 rebounds, and six assists in the Raptors' matchup against the Heat on Friday.
Analysis: Olynyk did a little bit of everything for the struggling Raptors. He should continue to thrive while Toronto has a limited number of available bigs to play.
RJ Barrett
RJ Barrett tallies 35-point double-double vs. MIA
Fri, Apr 12, 2024, 4:23 PM
RJ Barrett scored 35 points (13-of-18 FGs), hauled in 11 rebounds, dished out three assists, and made one 3-pointer in the Raptors' Friday matchup with the Heat.
Analysis: Barrett didn't show any signs of rust after taking one game off for rest purposes earlier this week. He fell just short of his season-high for points (37) and set a new season-high mark for rebounds.
Gary Trent
Gary Trent Jr., Bruce Brown available Friday
Fri, Apr 12, 2024, 12:42 PM
Kayla Grey on Twitter
Gary Trent Jr. (back spasms) and Bruce Brown (right knee inflammation) are available for Friday's game against the Heat.
Analysis: Trent's availability is more significant, as he was a fixture in the starting lineup when he was healthy. Gradey Dick is likely headed to the bench, but the rookie will figure prominently within the Raptors' bench rotation. Brown will also play solid minutes off the bench as Toronto looks to end its season on a high note.
RJ Barrett
Barrett, Olynyk absent from Friday injury report
Thu, Apr 11, 2024, 12:01 PM
NBA Injury Report
RJ Barrett (rest) and Kelly Olynyk (rest) are not on the injury report for Friday's game against the Heat.
Analysis: Barrett and Olynyk are available after sitting out Wednesday's loss to the Nets, which should drop Ochai Agbaji (or Garrett Temple) and Malik Williams to the bench. Williams is close to a sure bet to come off the bench, while the Raptors could also have Gary Trent Jr. back in the lineup. Agbaji and Temple would come off the bench in that scenario.
Gary Trent
Gary Trent Jr., Bruce Brown questionable Friday
Thu, Apr 11, 2024, 11:15 AM
Blake Murphy on Twitter
Gary Trent Jr. (back spasms) and Bruce Brown (right knee inflammation) are questionable for Friday's game against the Heat.
Analysis: After being listed as questionable on the initial injury report, Trent and Brown did not play in Wednesday's loss to the Nets. If that's the case on Friday, veteran wing Garrett Temple (36 minutes vs. Brooklyn) would have the most to gain. Ochai Agbaji and Gradey Dick also benefit, with the former Kansas standouts logging over 30 minutes as starter on Wednesday.
Gradey Dick
Gradey Dick scores season-high 24 points vs. Nets
Wed, Apr 10, 2024, 4:24 PM
Gradey Dick played 34 minutes in Wednesday's loss to the Nets, tallying 24 points (9-of-20 FGs), four rebounds, and six 3-pointers.
Analysis: After coming off the bench in each of Toronto's last three games, Gradey had the best night of his rookie campaign on Wednesday. The first-round pick out of Kansas established career-highs in points and 3-pointers, with 14 of his 20 shot attempts coming from beyond the arc. Gradey did not offer any assists (he hasn't recorded one since March 31 vs. Philadelphia), and the defensive stats were also lacking. However, none of that is a surprise, given the season-long production. Look for him to play plenty over Toronto's final two games of the season.
Immanuel Quickley
Immanuel Quickley tallies game-high 32 points
Wed, Apr 10, 2024, 4:14 PM
Immanuel Quickley shot 10-of-24 from the field and 8-of-8 from the foul line in Wednesday's 106-102 loss to the Nets, tallying 32 points, seven rebounds, nine assists, one steal, one block, and four 3-pointers in 34 minutes.
Analysis: With the Raptors down multiple players due to injury, Quickley put up high numbers in numerous categories. He led the team in points, assists, and field-goal attempts, notching his second 30-point game in as many appearances. Quickley's availability for Toronto's final two games is the question mark, as the team has little incentive to play its more established players. IQ will be a free agent this summer, and his play since joining the Raptors via trade likely drove up the asking price.
Gradey Dick
Gradey Dick (groin) active Tuesday vs. Nets
Wed, Apr 10, 2024, 12:22 PM
NBA injury report
Gradey Dick (groin contusion) is active for Wednesday's Raptors-Nets game.
Analysis: Gradey is back in the mix after a one-game layoff. He should get an extended run with Bruce Brown (knee) and Gary Trent Jr. (back out). Jordan Nwora (4% rostered in Yahoo leagues) should also see a boost in production on Wednesday.
Gary Trent
Gary Trent Jr., Bruce Brown ruled out vs. Nets
Wed, Apr 10, 2024, 12:17 PM
Blake Murphy on X
Gary Trent Jr. (back spams) and Bruce Brown (right knee inflammation) have been ruled out for Wednesday's game against the Nets.
Analysis: Both wings have been ruled out after initially being listed as questionable to play in this game. Their absences will open up minutes for both Jordan Nwora and Gradey Dick, with one of them likely moving into the starting unit to replace GTJ.
RJ Barrett
Barrett, Olynyk out, Quickley available Wednesday
Wed, Apr 10, 2024, 7:09 AM
Josh Lewenberg on Twitter
RJ Barrett and Kelly Olynyk will miss Wednesday's matchup with Brooklyn due to rest, and Immanuel Quickley (rest) will return following Tuesday's absence.
Analysis: Barrett and Olynyk will miss the second half of Toronto's back-to-back, while Gradey Dick (groin), Gary Trent Jr. (back) and Bruce Brown (knee) will all get questionable tags. Quickley should enjoy a monster workload, while Javon Freeman-Liberty, Malik Williams and Jordan Nwora should be in line for expanded roles.
Gary Trent
Gary Trent Jr. can't connect from three vs. Indy
Tue, Apr 9, 2024, 3:50 PM
Gary Trent Jr. finished Tuesday's loss to Indiana with 16 points (7-of-19 FG), three rebounds, four assists, four steals and three turnovers across 34 minutes.
Analysis: Trent Jr. averaged 20.0 points and 3.1 triples on 45.7% shooting since the All-Star break before Tuesday's tilt with Indiana, but he came up shy of those marks in the loss. Trent went 0-of-7 from beyond the arc, and was held in check by a Pacers team that has allowed the fewest made three-pointers to opponents this season. Trent Jr. averaged 9.0 points and 1.7 triples on 38.5% shooting in three previous matchups with Indiana, so Tuesday's offensive performance wasn't a shocker. He did nab four steals, which partially buoyed his fantasy value. He'll look to get back on track Wednesday against Brooklyn.
Gradey Dick
Gradey Dick (groin) downgraded to out Tuesday
Tue, Apr 9, 2024, 11:26 AM
Josh Lewenberg on Twitter
Gradey Dick (right groin contusion) will not play in Tuesday's game against the Pacers.
Analysis: Injured during Sunday's win over the Wizards, Gradey will miss Toronto's home finale. Gary Trent Jr., RJ Barrett, and Bruce Brown are all available and can absorb the minutes that would have gone to the Raptors rookie.
Gradey Dick
Gradey Dick (groin) questionable Tuesday
Mon, Apr 8, 2024, 10:48 AM
NBA injury report
Gradey Dick (groin contusion) is questionable for Tuesday's Raptors-Pacers game.
Analysis: Gradey left Saturday's game against the Wizards with a groin injury and is working toward playing on Tuesday. Gary Trent Jr., Ochai Agbaji, and Bruce Brown could benefit from the rookie missing more time.
Immanuel Quickley
Immanuel Quickley (rest) out Tuesday vs. Pacers
Mon, Apr 8, 2024, 10:33 AM
NBA Injury Report
Immanuel Quickley (rest) has been ruled out for Tuesday's game against the Pacers.
Analysis: Tuesday's game is the first of two in as many nights for the Raptors, so Quickley sitting is unsurprising. Javon Freeman-Liberty started the most recent game that IQ missed (March 31 vs. Philadelphia) and could take on those responsibilities again on Tuesday. While worth a look in deep leagues that remain active, JFL is not a must-stream with Gary Trent Jr. available to play.
Immanuel Quickley
Immanuel Quickley posts 31/13/7/1 line in victory
Sun, Apr 7, 2024, 2:27 PM
Immanuel Quickley managed 31 points, 13 assists, seven rebounds, a steal and three triples across 36 minutes in Sunday's win over Washington.
Analysis: IQ has been superb since returning from a six-game absence, and he's been particularly excellent over his last two games. He went for 25/11/9/3 in Friday's win over Milwaukee, and he was even better on Sunday. Quickley's monster numbers have been a big reason why Toronto has won two straight, and Quickley is showing just what he's capable of in a featured role. As one of Toronto's cornerstones, he should have a top-100 fantasy floor for the foreseeable future.
